A comparison essay is always interesting to write. It becomes especially creative if you are given a choice of the main objects to be compared. Certainly, an assigned topic can be quite intriguing, but anyone will agree here – personal initiative leads to even better results. This is why, if given an opportunity to decide what your comparison essay will be about, do not limit yourself.

Keep in mind that a comparison essay deals only with those subjects that have something in common. In other words, to write a comparison essay, you must have common grounds to compare. Bringing together a shoe and a sock will not give any results (not in a comparison essay, at least). But what will you say about comparing a tennis shoe with a high heel? Yes, the outcome will be satisfactory.
Be Objective Writing a Comparison Essay
If we talk about tennis shoes and high heels, your position will be subjective, and it is normal. Still, comparison essays requires you to pour some light not only on your position, but on the opinion of the opposing side. What were you saying? Tennis shoes work with all outfits? Try to tell it to Mrs. Bush when she goes to a fancy party, and check out the grin on her face. One more important rule of comparison essays says: compare all sides of the problem, both negative and positive.
Comparison Essays: Creative or Dull?
We vote: creative! You can certainly open ten big encyclopedias and write a comparison essay worth a Nobel Prize. But what do you need it for? Money? How pragmatic. Fame? How modern. Acknowledgement? How sentimental. The bottom line is: a comparison essay has to be original, bright, creative, and interesting to read.
